Keeping every child safe.
Our commitment to child protection, safe-school practice, and what to do if you have a concern.

Our commitment
Nawakunja is committed to being a safe school for every child. That means more than saying we’re safe — it means clear policies, trained staff, and a way for any family to raise a concern and be heard.
This policy is aligned with the Constitution of Nepal’s right to education and child rights (Articles 31 & 39), the Act Relating to Children 2075, and Curriculum Development Centre guidance on safe and inclusive schools.
What we do every day
- Two-adult rule. Children are never alone with a single adult in a closed room. Support sessions happen in open or glass-walled spaces.
- Identified entry / exit. Gate supervision during arrival and dismissal; only parents / guardians named on the enrolment form can collect a child.
- CCTV at key points. Entrance and common areas. Cameras are not installed in washrooms or changing areas — ever.
- Clean, supervised washrooms. Age-appropriate, checked regularly, with adult help available for the youngest.
- First aid. A trained first-aider is on campus throughout the school day. Parents are notified for anything beyond a scraped knee.
Behaviour we will not tolerate
- Physical punishment of any kind — against Nepal law and our core belief
- Verbal abuse, humiliation, or shaming a child in front of peers
- Bullying — student-to-student, staff-to-student, or otherwise
- Discrimination based on caste, religion, gender, or ability
- Ragging of any form
Reporting a concern
If you suspect something is wrong — with your child, another child, or a member of staff — please tell us. You can:
- Call the Principal directly on 9849034724. The Principal is our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Email prerana.kh@gmail.com with the subject “Safeguarding concern”.
- Visit the school — we will always make time for you.
We take every concern seriously. The family raising the concern is kept informed at each step. Where a child’s safety is at immediate risk, we involve the relevant authorities (police, child helpline 1098, or the local ward office) without delay.
Staff training
All teaching and support staff undergo an induction that covers child safeguarding, our code of conduct, and reporting lines. We refresh this annually as part of our weekly professional-development rhythm.
Visitors
Visitors (including photographers, guest speakers, and tradespeople) sign in at the office, wear a visitor lanyard, and are never left alone with children.
Photography & media
We ask parent / guardian consent before using any child’s photograph on the website, social media, or printed materials. Consent can be withdrawn at any time — see our Privacy Policy.
